What does it mean to use my spirituality to help me in business?
- Lanardo Smith (aka sbk)

A few months ago, my perspective on spirituality and business transformed. A friend, sensing my struggles, prayed for me. Though raised in a Christian household, I never fully followed religious doctrine. My approach to spirituality was always broader, less structured. That night, something shifted within me.
The next morning, I prayed—not to a specific deity but to the universe. I was financially struggling in London, barely making ends meet. Instead of asking for help, I expressed gratitude. That very day, as if the universe responded, someone bought all the jackets and clothes I was selling, providing me with £2,000. This was my first undeniable experience with the power of prayer, manifestation, and divine reciprocity.
Since then, prayer has become integral to my life. I haven’t missed a morning, aligning my thoughts with abundance. My faith isn’t about expecting financial miracles but recognizing existing blessings. I’ve found that success and wealth come when I maintain a high vibrational frequency, practice the law of attraction, and believe the universe conspires to support me.
Prayer has also helped me focus. I noticed a pattern: my business thrived only when I completed my daily tasks. It was as if the universe withheld rewards until I aligned my actions with my intentions. Procrastination became my greatest enemy—especially in an expensive city like London, where staying sharp is a necessity.
The Power of Mindset in Business
My journey in the music industry reaffirmed this connection between faith and action. Through determination and visualization, I secured meetings inside Sony Music’s label offices. I went sober for three months, which led to crucial opportunities. But the mind is both a builder and a destroyer.
During a trip to New York, I indulged in alcohol, and self-doubt crept in. I convinced myself I had jeopardized my opportunity. Soon enough, Sony disappeared. This painful lesson taught me that my internal belief system directly influences my external reality.
Losing financial stability was humbling. From ages 19 to 22, I had lived lavishly, spending recklessly. But the universe humbles those who stray from gratitude. I lost expensive possessions in bizarre ways—almost as if divine forces were stripping me of unearned privileges. Instead of resenting it, I embraced these losses as lessons in humility and growth.
Removing myself from a toxic relationship and committing to prayer reshaped my fortunes. New opportunities arrived at a sustainable pace. Today, I’m not wealthy, but I’m financially stable and grateful. Even in Asia, with limited funds, doors open just when I need them. This isn’t luck—it’s a combination of faith, hard work, and alignment.
Faith, Action, and Success
Success is a fusion of confidence, faith, and action. I trust that what’s meant for me will come at the right time. I know the universe will never abandon me. More importantly, I recognize that success is a mindset—one requiring unwavering self-belief.
Many dismiss this as delusion, but what is ambition without conviction? Every successful person I’ve met persisted against all odds. Success isn’t accidental—it’s engineered through discipline, mindfulness, exercise, prayer, and purpose. Those who wait for circumstances to change remain stagnant. I refuse to be one of them.
Even when I overindulge in wine or rum, I acknowledge that the only way forward is action. Success demands balance—knowing when to push and when to rest. I’ve had a difficult life, but hardship isn’t an excuse for stagnation. I’ve seen functioning alcoholics build empires; discipline and indulgence can coexist when one remains committed to purpose.
The Importance of Belief
So, what must we do? Believe. In ourselves, our potential, and the unseen forces working in our favor. Some call it delusion; I call it an unshakable mindset. If I don’t believe in my greatness, who will?
Yet, I’m not immune to negativity. I battle self-doubt, cynicism, and childhood programming that whispers I am undeserving. Rewiring these mental barriers is a lifelong process, but every day, I choose faith and resilience. My experiences have hardened me—not just in this lifetime but perhaps across many.
Islamic teachings say everything is written, and I resonate with this. But I also believe we shape our narrative through thought, speech, and action. The key is staying focused and undistracted by external chaos.
Transmuting Pain into Purpose
Growing up with trauma and battling depression gave me a unique perspective. Pain can be a prison or a tool for transformation. The most successful artists aren’t always the most talented but the most mentally resilient. I may carry past wounds, but my ability to turn pain into purpose sets me apart.
Manifesting financial success isn’t about luck—it’s about alignment. Every time I face financial struggle, I remind myself that money gravitates toward me because I expect it to. This belief, coupled with relentless effort, has brought me extraordinary wealth before, and it will again.
Practical Steps to Spiritual Success
For those looking to elevate their business through spirituality, here’s my advice:
● Be specific about what you want. You don’t need an intricate plan, but you need clarity.
● Success requires both hard work and faith. You must take action while trusting the process.
● Even in your darkest moments, trust that divine timing is at play. The universe gives what you need and withholds what you’re not ready for.
● Align yourself with success daily. What can you do today to generate the energy that attracts prosperity?
When I had the most wealth, I already felt rich internally. Confidence begets reality. When my mindset wavered, my external world crumbled.
I must stay in divine favor. I must ensure that God, money, and, most importantly, I like myself. Only then can I manifest the life I am destined for. It’s all about alignment.
Final Thoughts
To those reading this: pray, manifest, and believe. The more you practice, the less it feels like illusion and the more it solidifies into reality.
I know my greatness before the world acknowledges it. I am already who I was meant to be—I just have to materialize it.
With faith, discipline, and divine alignment, anything is possible. May we all continue to elevate in business, in purpose, and in life.
